Red Rooster Inn is approximately 8 miles southeast of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, toward Aspen, off Highway 82.

We are located halfway between Glenwood and Carbondale (known for its excellent Aspen-style restaurants, arts community and golf)--about a fifteen minute drive to either town. We are off-the-beaten-path, but it's a spectacular drive on country roads, if you're so inclined.

DRIVING FROM DENVER: (I-70 WESTBOUND TO GLENWOOD SPRINGS)

Take I-70 west to Glenwood Springs. Exit the first Glenwood Springs exit (at the Hot Springs Pool), cross the bridge into town (Grand Avenue) and continue towards Aspen. (Grand Avenue turns into Highway 82). You will drive approximately 4 miles on Highway 82 once you leave Glenwood.

You will turn off of Highway 82 at the 4th traffic light after Wal-Mart/MacDonald's (with the Wal-Mart light being the first). The intersection where you will turn off Highway 82 has a large gas station/convenience store (Phillips 66/Thunder River Market) on the left and a sign for Colorado Mountain College (CMC). Turn left at this light.

Drive up the hill approximately 3 miles to Colorado Mountain College's Spring Valley campus. Pass the college and follow the road (it makes a 90-degree left turn with three yellow arrow signs pointing left.) At this point you will see a sweeping meadow and pass a sod farm with a large pond. Up another smaller hill you will come to a "Y" in the road. Make a left at the "Y" and you are now on County Road 115 (also called Red Canyon Road).

Drive approximately 1-1/4 miles and you will see the Red Rooster on your left -- a large yellow house with a red roof. The entrance is at a group of five mailboxes on the county road--make a sharp left for the entrance to the inn.

DRIVING FROM GRAND JUNCTION (I-70 EASTBOUND TOWARD GLENWOOD SPRINGS)

Take the second (main) Glenwood Springs exit--the one by the pool and also marked as "To Hwy 82 to Aspen"--cross the bridge into town (Grand Avenue) and continue towards Aspen. (Grand Avenue turns into Highway 82). You will drive approximately 4 miles on Highway 82 once you leave Glenwood.

DRIVING FROM ASPEN (HWY 82 - TOWARD GLENWOOD--only 45 minutes from Red Rooster Inn): Take Highway 82 towards Glenwood (east). You will pass the towns of Basalt, El Jebel and Carbondale. The next traffic light after the Carbondale/Hwy 133 exit light is our exit off 82. Turn right and go up the hill to Colorado Mountain College (follow above directions to house).

Eagle/Vail Airport (45 minutes east of Glenwood Springs on I-70--refer to Denver driving directions)

Aspen Airport (45 minutes south of Glenwood on Hwy 82 -- refer to Aspen driving directions)

TRAIN:

Amtrack has a station in downtown Glenwood. You can rent a car in Glenwood, then follow any of the above driving directions from the town of Glenwood Springs. Because of our country location, you must have a car to stay with us; there is no public transportation or taxi service to our inn.
